Obituary for William L. Bennett, Jr.

William L. Bennett, Jr., age 75, died on August 18, 2018 at his home in Pittsgrove, NJ. Bill lived in Sewell most of his life and was a graduate of Pitman High School. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1965-1967. Bill began working for EI DuPont in 1962 as a Lab Technician. In 1972, he joined the family business, Oakview Nursery, Inc. and was President of the business until his retirement. Bill also operated Landscape Specialties from 1982-1994. He was a member of the American Association of Nurseryman where he served as NJ Lt. Governor and Governor. A member of the NJ Association of Nurserymen where he was State Director, South Jersey Chapter Chairman, Vice President and President. In 1982 he received the Nurseryman of the Year Award, South Jersey Chapter. Bill was also a member of the Deptford Rotary Club. During this time, he served as Treasurer and had perfect attendance. Bill was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Survived by his wife of 16 years Ruth V. (nee Tyas), children Victoria Lynn (Frank) Falconi, William L. III (Joanna), daughter in law Holly Mason, stepchildren Darlene (Jack) Ganzel, Richard (Mary) Connelly and grandchildren Nicholas and Kaitlyn Falconi, Juliana, Carter and Layton Bennett, Nathaniel Mason, Lauren and Stephanie Severson and Brittany and Richard Connelly. He was predeceased by his grandson Riley Bennett.
