Obituary for Marie S. Wells

Marie Wells, 87, of Woodbury, NJ, of natural causes. Marie was an accomplished businesswoman, a passionate hobbyist, and a lover of all living creatures. Her patience and empathy were legendary among her friends and relatives.  After growing up in Stockton, NJ, the daughter of an Exxon engineer and a homemaker Marie graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1953. Drawing on both her education and her personal skills, she pursued a career in management that culminated in her appointment as Vice President of Human Resources for the University of Pennsylvania Hospital System. For more than twenty years, Marie led the organization through a tumultuous period of labor workforce changes. Following her retirement in 1975 Marie married Dwight Wells, an FBI employee and banking executive. She and Dwight enjoyed a close circle of friends and neighbors who enjoyed her warmth, quick wit, and easy laughter, and who especially appreciated her devotion to a steady stream of pets. Marie remained active and energetic through her final days.   She is pre-deceased by her husband. Surviving Marie are her sister-in-law, Anne Soriero, her nieces and nephews Julie Soriero, Patrice Soriero-Stambovsky, Frank Soriero, James Soriero, and Mary Alice Soriero, and many close friends and neighbors.
