Obituary for Wade Hampton Ridgway, Sr.

Wade Hampton Ridgway Sr., age 91 died on September 11, 2017. Born in Dutch Neck, NJ, Wade attended Bridgeton High School. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and received his Bachelor’s degree from Hampden-Sydney College. Wade served in the US Army during World War II from 1944-1946. He worked for E.I. duPont as a Chemical Engineer for 35 years. After retirement, Wade worked part time for H.I.P. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Woodbury and was a volunteer at Underwood Memorial Hospital. He loved sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. Wade enjoyed skiing, golfing, horseback riding and traveling. He also loved music. Survived by his wife of 67 years Doris (nee Michel), children Susan (Edwin) Meyer, Julia (Dennis) Collins, Wade Jr. (Denise), half brothers Rushton and Josef Ridgway, and grandchildren Lauren Patten, Daniel Meyer, Blair, Matthew and Jane Collins, and Evan, Braden and Jared Ridgway. Friends may greet the family on Saturday after 11am in the Budd Funeral Home, 522 Salem Ave., Woodbury, NJ. Memorial service will be at 12pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 37 S. Jackson St, Woodbury, NJ. Memories may be shared at www.buddfuneralhome.com.
